Social Sustainability of Water and Waste Management Companies in Portugal

The Sustainable Development Goals aim at balancing economic, social and environmental development. In this framework, sustainability is key to tackle current challenges that hinder the maximization of satisfaction. Yet, for many years, scholars have negleted dimension. A possible explanation may be difficulty measure concepts such as well-being prosperity. Thus, we argue that, evaluate sectoral performance, concept should translated into metrics, by focusing on indicators impact those concepts. Consequently, time-series data from Quadros do Pessoal, PORDATA SABI databases sector Water Collection, Treatment Distribution, Sanitation, Waste Management Depollution, are consulted analyze evolution corporate performance concerning in 2008–2019. line with previous literature, use average wages employment proxies sustainability.
